Felix Kubin is a composer, creator of radio plays (Hörspiel), curator and media artist based in Hamburg, Germany. His musical experiments and activities include futuristic pop, radio art, electroacoustic music, lecture performances and works for chamber orchestra.
He began recording and performing electronic new wave music at the age of 12. After a period of post-industrial experiments in the early 90s he turned to futuristic pop music and launched the independent record label “Gagarin Records” in 1998. Over the past two decades he has performed at many international festivals and museums including MoMA PS1, Sonar, Transmediale, CTM, Unsound, Moers Festival, Märzmusik, Présences Electroniques, Galerie nationale du Jeu de Paume and Ars Electronica.
Apart from commission works for orchestras, film and theatre, he has invented new radio formats like the “Call Centre for Destruction” and “Me & My Rhythm Box” (DOCUMENTA 14). In 2019, the French film maker Marie Losier shot the award-winning film portrait “Felix in Wonderland” which ran on festivals all over the world and on ARTE TV.
