René G. Boscio is a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He’s contributed music to over 100 episodes of hit television series such as Riverdale (2017), Blindspot (2015), Flash (2014), and more, as well as many independent films.
René began his career in music at the age of 11, playing drums and guitar in several local bands in his hometown of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. After acquiring a bachelor’s degree in music theory and composition, he moved to Los Angeles, California in 2013, where he began working at Cow on the Wall Studio alongside renowned composer Blake Neely. During the following 3 years, René arranged, programmed, performed, and composed music for TV shows such as Arrow (2012), Mentalist (2008), Supergirl (2015), and others.
Following his time at Cow on the Wall Studio, he has composed and produced original scores for several feature films, award winning documentaries, mini series, and movie trailers. He has also created music for branded content and commercial clients such as Chevrolet, Suave, Mercury Insurance, Gerber, and other companies.
Boscio lives and works on the outskirts of Los Angeles, CA, with his beautiful wife and dog.
“Discovering modular synths was another big “a-ha” moment for my musical voice. I had always been into software synthesizer, but working in the fast-paced TV environment wouldn’t really allow me to slow down and properly learn synthesis. But when I started freelancing, I was able to get my hands on modular gear and start exploring what every knob and patch point did. Not to mention how useful all of the manuals are for learning what everything does! Needless to say, that it quickly became a go-to tool in my film scoring work”
IF WE SEEK WITH INTENT is a body of work rooted in self-discovery. For the past couple of years, I’ve been sinking my teeth into modular synthesis and how that world could be incorporated in my music.
In finding ways to keep myself productive during our infamous 2020 quarantine, I decided to dive into the deeper parts of my creative subconscious, while mostly using tools I could have a physical connection with in order to navigate the depths of my inner self. The process of creating with these tools and not being restricted by the usual constraints of writing music under dialogue, allowed for one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve had to date. This process is detailed in the accompanying PDF booklet.
I’m extremely proud of these six simple, yet deeply personal instrumental tracks, which allowed me to let go of all self-judgment in my creative intent. I hope you allow yourself the time and mental space to live in these sonic landscapes for a while, and that you find in them whatever you’re seeking.
